iTunes - What's the deal?

I'm pretty much willing to agree at this point that Apple makes good stuff. I personally have the 8 GB iPod nano, and I know plenty of people who have the iPhone and are very happy with it. But what's the deal with iTunes? Why can't they get it straight once and for all? I'm currently in middle of copying 30GB of music from an iPod to my computer (using ephPod), with the intention of formatting the iPod, and putting it all back on using iTunes, simply because there is no normal way of telling the iPod to repair its' corrupt library. That's right, there is 30GB of music on there, but the iPod can't see it. What a piss off. Now normally I would use a program like SharePod ( or ephPod (, but they don't seem to be compatible with the new 160GB iPods, or maybe it's Windows Vista that's causing the issues. Either way, I just wish Apple would get its act together and finally allow us to copy songs from the iPod to the computer, and allow me to do something as simple as repairing a corrupt library.

E-mail etiquette (part 1)

I think I'm gonna write a book on e-mail etiquette. For those of you who don't realize, it's not cool to send someone a 2MB picture when you can resize it and make it a few KB's. Obviously if you are sending it to be printed it must be full resolution, but c'mon, if you just want to share with me the great time you had skiing yesterday, please resize your pictures before sending them. I have enough things clogging my e-mail inbox, I don't need your 2MB picture to be one of them. One of these days when I have time I'll write my gripes about people forwarding e-mails improperly. Stay tuned.

Introduction - What this blog is about

My tagline is something like "A blog about anything and everything technological." But that's not really true, because if something happens that pisses me off, I'm bound to write about it here. For example, yesterday I went to Hess gas station. I swiped my credit card at the pump and it said "read error". I continued swiping and continued to get the error. Mind you, this happened the day before at the same pump #13 at Hess. So I went to the cashier and told her my card wasn't being read. She nastily responded that "it works fine at the pump, just have the magnetic stripe on the right." I figured, "ok, that makes sense. The picture on the pump is probably wrong", but whaddya know, the picture was fine and the magnetic strip WAS on the right. So I walked back to her, handed her my card and told her it still wasn't working. She looks me square in the eye and says "maybe you should take back your card and go back to the pump because it works fine there." I responded simply by saying "maybe I'll just go across the street to Shell" - which I did.The nerve some people have...Don't they realize we pay their salary?

Introduction - Naming this blog

So let's start with the basics. I've been thinking of writing a blog for a long time, but never actually sat down to do it. Recently I came up with this name and figured that if I had a cool sounding name, maybe people would actually read my blog. So yesterday I finally decided to start my blog, only to find out that the name I wanted, GeekisChic (with a 's' instead of a 'z') was taken by someone else (don't even bother checking it out, there's nothing there). So I figured, "ok, I'll just e-mail the guy and ask him to delete his blog since there's nothing there since the original post in May of '05." But lo and behold, there's no way on Blogger to contact the blog owner - or at least no way that I could find. So if you know of a way for me to do that, please post in the comments.Oh, and BTW, if you don't know what "chic" means, please look it up instead of asking, and if you haven't figured it out yet, the "i" in "chic" is pronounced like the "ee" in "geek", not like the "i" in "quick".
